NORTH THUNDER

On February 14, 2016, the Saudi Press Agency reported that Saudi Arabia was ready to participate in any ground incursion proceeding in Syria, especially if the U.S.-led coalition decided to commence a Syrian theater of operation.16

While the Middle East was increasingly becoming a potential world war powder keg, President Barack Obama blamed climate change for the problems of terrorism.

“[ISIS] will be defeated. There will be ongoing efforts to – disrupt the world order from terrorists … There’s always some bad people out there tryin’ to do bad things. And we have to be vigilant in going after them … But, if you start seeing the oceans rise by five, six, seven feet – if – you see major shifts in weather patterns [because of “manmade global warming”] so that what have been previously – bread baskets to the world suddenly can no longer grow food, then you’re seeing the kind of crisis that we can’t deal with through the deployment of the Marines … And, you know, if you look at world history, whenever people are desperate, when people start lacking food, [because of global warming] when people – are not able to make a living or take care of their families – that’s when ideologies [ISIS] arise that are dangerous.” – Barack Obama17

The Saudi Press Agency report also claimed that 350,000 troops from the Persian Gulf Arab states, along with a large coalition of other nations, would take part in the Saudi-led military exercise. They further asserted that 2,540 warplanes, 20,000 tanks and 460 helicopters would be a part of the massive military practice – dubbed “North Thunder.” Media reports said the massive Saudi-led maneuver would be unprecedented in the history of the region. They claimed that Egypt, Sudan, Pakistan, and Persian Gulf Arab states were among the twenty-five countries taking part in the military exercises.

Reacting to the threat of a potential troop deployment, Syrian foreign minister Walid al-Muallem said, “Let no one think they can attack Syria or violate its sovereignty because I assure you any aggressor will return to their country in a wooden coffin.”18

Given the headlines regarding the current Middle East upheaval, Syria at the epicenter of a major war in the region, the China/Russia/Iran coalition, the explosion of ISIS in the region, and the current re-Islamization efforts of Turkey, it is difficult to understand how any serious student of the Word could not see the developing prophetic scenario.

But, where did today’s Middle East crisis begin? Is there a documented, and perhaps prophetic, tie-in indicating the sparks that ignited the whole thing?
